10. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (english version)

Ever since snatching a top 10 position in August 2011, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has been able to keep his position in the world elite, finishing this current year in number 10 of the Emirates ATP world ranking, although he couldn't show his value in a regular basis, being forced to withdraw from the US Open, held in September.

It wasn't all that negative, though. Some interesting results in 2013, the most remarkable being the Marseille ATP 250, during the month of February, defeating the Czech player Tomas Berdich (3-6 7-6(6) 6-4).
Down Under proved to be the fine start for the french player, only losing in the quarter-finais, against the swiss legend Roger Federer, after a 5 set struggle. The following tournament brought glory to Tsonga, bringing home the gold, as I mentioned before, in Marseille. His hardcourt circuit produced another relevant result, as he was only stopped by serbian Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells.

Trophy won at "home", in Marseille

Clay proved to be a lucky charm for him, starting with an outstanding performance in the mystical Monte-Carlo Masters 1000, being defeated by the ring of Clay, Rafael Nadal, in the Semis. Europe continued to provide useful points to the french, by reaching quarter-finals in Madrid Masters 1000 (lost to Verdasco), and a marvellous run at home, in Roland Garros. He reached the final 4 of the tournament, but was not up to the challenge against David Ferrer, losing in straight sets.

Grass season, short as always, provided mixed feelings to Tsonga. To begin with, a nice result in the Queen's tournament, anually held in London (reaching SF, lost to Andy Murray). He couldn't carry on showing his potencial in this surface, at the Wimbledon major, as he was forced to give up in his second round match against latvia's Ernests Gulbis, due to injury.

This injury forced Tsonga to take some time off from the circuit, only returning in September (Wimbledon took place in late June). Another home tournament, this time in Metz, proved to be the perfect occasion for a return to the circuit, almost perfect. Gilles Simon prevented Tsonga from having a dream return, winning in straight sets (6-4 6-3). Shanghai was the last successful tournament of the season, reaching the semis again in a 1000 Masters (lost to Novak Djokovic). Last tournament of the year was dissapointing, losing in the opening match against rising star Kei Nishikori (6-1 6-7(4) 6-7(7)).

As far as Davis Cup is concerned, won all 3 matches. The first one, in the first round, against Israel's Amir Weintraub, helped France's easy win at home. The following round, in Argentina, was not fortunate to the french, as they lost 2-3 in the aggregate. However, Tsonga kept his clean sheet , defeating both Juan Monaco and Carlos Berlocq.

Usual celebration by Tsonga, after winning a match
